Outlook is blocking an FTP address why?

I am trying to access a FTP address i received in an e-mail but outlook is
blocking it. How can i stop this happening so i can access the address.
I am using outlook 2003

Blocking it in what way? How does Outlook prevent you to connect to an FTP
server. Even if Outlook invalidates the link for direct clicking on it you
can use the FTP address in any FTP application. Outlook itself isn't an FTP
client.

Nope, not Outlook's fault. Check your firewall settings. Outlook is
not an FTP client, so don't know what you are really trying to use to
connect to FTP (maybe Internet Explorer but which is a crappy FTP
client, anyway; FileZilla is free).
