I have a peer-to-peer network with computers from W2k to Vista 64 and (still)
use O'EXPRESS for mail (duh). I've realized that with Outlook I don't need
to keep separate sets of messages for each computer and the associated
searching problems. But I recall using Outlook with a former employer and
having access to my mail even from different cities with Outlook.

Is there any reference material on the Net or books as to how Outlook works
(theory of operation, file names, etc) and its compatibilities (Outlook
ver/OS type), limitations to be aware of in mail are, etc, I should know
before installing it on the network?

The Office web site has a lot of information you can read and there are
numerous books available that describe Outlook's operations, from a high-level
view to an in-depth description. Amazon.com can help you find them.
