Outlook freezing process, need help!

This is a strange issue:

My users outlook started freezing on startup. If you restart, it would open
once. If you close outlook, it would not re-open. Not in safe mode not
after a detect and repair. I uninstalled office and re-installed and tested
again. Before the SP3 update on Office, it would open only twice in a row
before it would freeze. Then it would ask about safe mode and freeze, then
it would detect and repair. Then you could open it twice again before it
would freeze. and the whole process started all over again. I did not think
to check the disabled items and now I am unable to get it to open again.

This is a new computer with a new install of all software. Everything is
fresh. No viruses and no spyware. Laptop with centrino duo, internet 7, XP
pro SP2, office XP pro. I can't tell you how much I need some help on this.

Make sure you've installed the final release as it was only made public in
the last week or so.
There are/have been quite a few issues with IE7 and Outlook, especially in
beta mode. Installing beta software onto production machines is not in
anyone's best interests.

I agree, these units came pre-installed with IE7, so I would assume that they
had the latest release, although just to be sure I also performed all the
latest updates and then tried again, same result, then I also removed IE7,
same results, I'm at a loss. But thanks for your help.

Make sure antivirus is not scanning incoming/outgoing email (you don't need
to do this). That can cause slowdowns or even response issues. Check for Add
Ins and COMs. Check the size of the PST, it can become flaky by around 1.5 GB
or so. You may need to scan the PST for errors.

I found the problem:

Thanks for the ideas, but the issue is stranger than all that:

My user is Japanese, so we have the Japanese language installed on his
computer. On all previous versions of XP we have made Japanese the default
language, however on this new laptop with all the latest patches, if you
startup as Japanese as the default language, then Outlook fails. If you make
English the default language, then restart the computer, Outlook does not
fail.

I don't know what changed but something has happened to break this. Anyway,
for anyone having the same issue, that is the answer.
