A while back I was given the great hint how to make OE my newsreader and
that's how I have it right now, with no mail fubctions at all. (no mail, I
use Incredimail). I never asked how do I return it to normal, should I ever
need to?

Don't use the shortcut you created, use the regular OE icon.
