Outlook express with no spell check

Bob

I am running OE 6 and I cannot spell check anything. I
hit the spell check tab and it says there is no program
associatied with it to do it. I have word pro 10 but
there is no spelling tab in the options on outlook
express. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I've been using the spellchecker found here
http://www.geocities.com/vampirefo/ with Outlook Express successfully for
quite some time on several of my computers that have Word Perfect instead of
Word.

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed.

You say you have Word Pro 10. I don't know what that is, but no
version of Microsoft Word has that name. Do you perhaps mean
WordPerfect 10? If so, its spellchecker won't work with Outlook
Express.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.

On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is*
installed, try the instructions at

Bob, OE doesn't have spell check all by itself. You need a spell
check program to go with it. I have seen mentioned that the spell
check in either MS office or MS works or was it MS Word? that will
work with it.

I have none of those, but got a spell check program that works with it
from a friend, which he got somewhere off of the Internet a few years
ago..

& I just did a Google search - here is a link that offers a free OE
spell check program that was written separately:

If it's the Word Pro I'm thinking of it comes with Smartsuite and used to be
called Ami Pro.
