Outlook Express will not retain POP information

Nina

I'll try this again as it seems to have mysteriously
disappeared.

I just got a new computer with XP installed. I have set
up my Outlook Express accounts (3 of them) and they all 3
regularly lose their correct incoming mail server
information. The incoming mail server changes
to "localhost" and the old incoming mail server
information gets stuffed at the end of the user name.

I can't see anyone else having problems like this, so I
can't find an answer. Please help.

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection, it's causing POP server to be renamed to 'localhost'
(127.0.0.1), and even Symantec says it's not necessary:

Disabling email protection does not leave you vulnerable to viruses and
malicious software in email. It is a separate layer of protection in
addition to Auto-Protect. Auto-Protect scans any incoming files, including
email, as they are saved to your hard drive. As long as you keep your virus
definitions up to date with LiveUpdate, and keep Auto-Protect enabled and
set to scan files as they are created or downloaded, your system is fully
protected.
