Outlook Express Spell Check

Just recently reinstalled software on new harddrive.
Installed outlook express and then office. Outlook
express usually uses the office spell check feature, but
because I installed express first, spell check feature
does not work. I've been using the computer for a month
or so, and am afraid if I reinstall express, I will lose
all my messages. How do I make the connection between
express and the spell check feature in office without
reinstalling express?
