Suddenly I cannot receive or send e-mail on Outlook
Express. I am on Roadrunner (for 12 months) and have
verified it is not their problem. I can still access the
internet. I use Windows XP which I keep updated. My
computer is a Dell. The computer and Windows XP are 16
months old.

The error message I receive when I try to send/recv in
Outlook Express is as follows:

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop-
server.houston.rr.com', Server: 'pop-
server.houston.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure
(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

Can you help?

Thanks.

Yes, turn off email scanning in your Anti Virus application, it affords
no added protection and is unnecessary and a waste of CPU cycles. Any AV
should kick in if you even try to open an infected mail.
