Recently I downloaded some updates for my windows 2000.
Now, I am unable to open attachments in my outlook
express when I click on the paperclip. The message
says "OE removed access to the following unsafe
attachments in your e-mail" Please advise on how to
regain access to all attachments.

In outlook express, click
Tools,
Options,
Security,
then uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus".
That should do ya up.

Hey, its better than outlook proper. You have to add a registry key for
that.

on your menu (ie. file, edit, view etc...) at the top click
tools->options->security tab->uncheck do not allow attachments to be
opened.....

I believe tools - options - security tab - email
attachments.

its definitely in there somewhere, just keep fiddlin in
that area till you find something about security levels,
and set the level a bit lower.

It's probably set to the highest, which pretty much flags
all attachments.

Greetings --

Outlook Express' default security settings are simply trying to
protect you. OE has no way of telling whether an attachment actually
contains a virus or not, so it temporarily blocks any of those file
types that could potentially contain a virus. In Outlook Express,
Tools > Options > Security, uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" option, assuming
you trust the source, of course. The wiser course of action, however,
would be to modify your list of unsafe files, as outlined in the KB
articles below:
