outlook express identity problem

D

dennis

I have two identities and when new email comes in for the
second identity it downloads to my default program instead
of to the proper identity. I have deleted identities and
re installed them to no avail. I know I'm missing
something here.
Thanks for any help.

Hi, Dennis -

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/

Use Message Rules to filter your mail where the two addresses are
aliases
for the same mailbox.

E.g., (e-mail address removed) and (e-mail address removed) are aliases for one mailbox. In the
Identity associated with (e-mail address removed), create a Message Rule stating,
"Where
To contains (e-mail address removed), Do not download it from the server and Stop
processing more rules" (The last phrase is important!) and place this
rule
at the very top of the list.

Then create a similar rule for the Identity associated with (e-mail address removed)
directing any messages addressed to (e-mail address removed) to not be downloaded from
the
server.
