Outlook Express identities won't switch

I have two identities in OE. One is the Main Identity (and it is now
receiving so much SPAM that it will be retired in a few weeks). The other is
a new identity to which I'm switching all my personal e-mail.
Yesterday, I had to repair Windows XP OS using its original CD and the
repair function. Now when I open OE, one identity is present, but when I use
the Switch Identity function, it will not switch to the other identity, but
remains on the original identity.

Suggestions please.
 
open "manage identities", is your other identity shown?
may have to recreate other identity.
 
if you using the same email address, aren't you still going to get spam?
some programs have ways of blocking "Spam".
 
The second identity has a different e-mail address. This is the new identity
that I am reserving for personal e-mail. So far, no spam.

When I open "Manage Identities" both identities are shown. I called my ISP
this morning and their only suggestion was to contact Microsoft.

did you create the new email account in the new identity?

You could still use old identity. delete old email account and add new email
account.
