What should I do now? I have XP Home Edition w/Service Pack 2. OE opens just
fine, and I can open other folders in OE. When I try to open the inbox,I get
the hour glass, and nothing happens. When I open the Task Manager it says OE
is not responding. I've run two different virus scans,Ad-Aware,re-booted,and
checked for updates.nothing helped.I don't know what to try next, any help
will be greatly appreciated!Thanks, Darin.

Inbox.dbx is damaged. Close OE and then Move Inbox.dbx from your store
folder (http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/store.htm) to another Windows
(not OE) folder, then run any of the above applications on the moved file.
(A new, empty Inbox.dbx will be created when you next open OE.)

If one of the above applications successfully recovers any messages, count
yourself fortunate. Do *not* import the moved DBX file back into OE!
Recovered messages may be dragged into an open OE folder, but...

Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.

Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Hopefully you weren't storing your messages in the Inbox. Close OE, and
navigate to where your DBX files are located. You can do a search for them
once you disable hiding hidden and system files. Once you find them, copy
the inbox.dbx to another folder and then open OE - it will create a new
Inbox. MVP Steve Cochran has some very good tools for recovering lost
messages that may very well help you get some of your inbox emails back.
