Outlook Express converting CC: attachments to .dat file

OE is apparently converting messages that are CC'ed to others as .dat files,
which cannot be opened or viewed by the intended recipients. Does anyone know
how this is happening or why?

OE cannot read attachments in emails sent as Rich text - change the mail
format in Outlook to either plain text or HTML and see if that cures it.....
