Outlook Express attachment receiving problem

I receive e-mail with Outlook Express 6 in W2K.
Attachments (such as *.xls, *.pdf) received and appeared
as dim (gray color). I cannot open the attachment
directly, I have to click 'reply', and then click that
attachment and open or save it instead. Can anyone tell?
