Outlook Express 6 shutting down when trying to compose

Hi, I have a bit of a problem, I have been looking around these forums for
days now trying to find a fix but to no avail so here I am asking for help, I
am running windows xp home edition, with sp 3, I'm using IE 7, and am running
outlook express 6, one day out of the blue my outlook express decided to play
up and has been for days, when I click on compose I get an error message that
sais, " Internal error of the program, would you like to send an error report
" when I click yes or no it shuts outlook down, when I click on reply it does
the same thing, it receives messages fine but that is it, I tried a fix from
here to reinstall outlook express, but it did not work, I'm at Witt's end,
I'm now using Microsoft outlook and I cannot stand it, is there a way of
getting it back on line other than doing a fresh install of windows which is
only a new install about 4 months ago. thank you in advance for any help you
