Outlook Express 6 Locked Up? Help Please

For quite a while I have been having problems with my Outlook Express. Shuts
down before it fully opens. It does still opne but now has basically locked
up and I cannot delete or compact files. Saw a thread about how to go through
Windows Explorer and view hidden files and delete through there. Was to look
for a dbx. file and could not find any.
Anyone available to help? Evidently I have some old files saved in OE
default folders that have gotten corrupted or a new spam mail received today
clogged everything? Using XP.
Not a computer whiz.(pretty obvious ,huh?) But gotta have my mail back!

For Outlook Express, ask in microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
or microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress.

You can't have OE6 on Vista.
