Outlook Exp. 6 send/receive locks

Barb

When ever I try to send a message, Outlook Express locks
up. I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del, End Task on OE, then when
I reopen OE the message is sitting in the Outbox. I
highlight the message and it just goes out by itself.
Same thing happens if I click on the Send/Receive button
to check for new mail. However, e-mail still comes in to
my mailbox with no problem.
Any idea what could be happening to the Send/Receive?

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97-2003 from the Office
family for Windows PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one
of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...blic.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress
for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ublic.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...;newsgroupsmicrosoft.public.internet.mail.mac
for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Barb asked:

If you have any other way to get at your mailbox, either
through a Web interface or by logging onto the server
directly, try clearing out the spam and then try to check
mail again.

For the last few weeks we've had a particular breed of
SPAM that gums up the works, causing the behavior you
describe (i.e. looonng pause in the middle of download.)
I don't know if it ever finishes eventually; so far we've
given up and killed Outlook after a few minutes.

Interestingly, the message sticks with Outlook 2000,
Outlook Express 5.5, and Outlook Express 6.

The messages that have been screwing us up all contain the
following unusual HTML, which I suspect is the cause:

In tags: (i've omitted the <> to avoid problems in the
newsreader)

img dynsrc=javascript:window.open
('http://82.146.50.41/ws/eBayISAPI.dll/ViewIte
m&item=3437053288&category=95963.html')

Anyone who can confirm that this is what's screwing us up,
and suggest a workaround?
