outlook email quit sending and receiving.

I am using Outlook 2003, Windows XP. Have been successfully reading and send
email for months even with Business Contact Manager. It worked one morning,
in afternoon it did not work. No changes had been made in my Outlook. Checked
with my ISP, no problem there. All my settings are right. Even created a new
account which didn't work either. I can get email through yahoo without a
problem. Get error message (ox80042108 or 0x80042109) when I try to
send/receive with Outlook. I have used detect and repair on Outlook 2 times.
Each time it said it was successful. My machine does not act funny with other
programs. What should be my next step?

More information for the problem: When I closed Outlook and it asked if I
wanted to back up, I said yes. The following error message came:
Cannot copy outlook: The process cannot access the file because another
process has locked a portion of the file.

I turned the computer totally off, turned it on again, and now my Outlook is
sending and receiving. Any guesses for the cause?
