Outlook disconnects

After I have my IP running and I minimize the window and
start outlook 2002 the ip disconnects, does anyone have
an answer, I sure would appreciate the help..

You provided no information that would permit an answer.
State your mail account type, connection type and automatic polling
settings.
Clarify what you mean by IP.
