Outlook "disappeared". Please help.

Hi all, everything had been working just fine with my Outlook XP. When I
tried to connect to email today, I received the following error message:

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The file C:\Outlook.pst is not a person
folders file.

Anyone know what this means and how I can correct it? I am worried about
doing a complete reinstall as I do not want to loose any of the email
messages I have saved...any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks!

Did anything happen to your computer recently? Is the file C:\Outlook.PST
still there? Have you tried running ScanPST.EXE on it to see if anything is
wrong with it?
