outlook database

if i don't leave my outlook open for a certain period of time and then close
it it seems to corrupt the database and i lose new email or email that i have
deleted comes back to my inbox. when i open outlook i get an error saying it
wasn't shut down properly or something, this has been going on now for like a
month or two i guess. anybody know if there was an update that screwed this
up or why its doing this? thanks.

You dont post your version of Outlook, the type of Account, the size of your
data file, or whether you have intergrated AV, all of which may be relevent
Based on the info, or lack off, try running Detect/Repair, or Office
Diagnostics, then run scanpst.exe on your data file.
 
Microsoft Office 2007 on Vista Ultimate synchronizing with a POP3 Account on
a personal domain. I am also checking mail on 2 different domains.

Then run scanpst.exe on the data file, and if you have intergrated AV
scanning uninstall that, prior to reinstalling AV without the OL
intergration.
OL not closing properly can also be caused by intergrated add-ins, eg fax or
sync tools, to name a couple
