outlook crashing

outlook crashes when it tries to open big attachments on
an exchange server.
The event log show the following entry for every crash:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Hang
Event Category: (101)
Event ID: 1002
Date: 5/19/2004
Time: 3:32:42 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MXD34404LF
Description:
Hanging application , version 0.0.0.0, hang module
ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.1217, hang address 0x00018864.

repairing office and recreating the user's outlook
profile has not fixed the problem
