I'm using Outlook 2003 under Windows XP. In task manager, Outlook.exe
shows hundreds of thousands of handles. Most other applications have a
few hundred. The Outlook.exe Handles count increments at a rate of
about 3 per second. If I left Outlook running long enough, it would
eventually have millions of handles allocated. Memory usage is 70 to
90 Mbytes.
Is this number of handles or the continually increasing handle count a
problem for XP? Are there any limits to the number of handles? I
assume there would be a 4G limit (the maximum 32 bit number), but it
would take years to get that high. How much memory does a Handle take
in the system?
If this is improper operation, what can I do about it?
