Outlook Connector

Hello, I have been playing with OL2007 and the Outlook Connector for
Hotmail/Live a bit lately. My plan is to migrate over to Custom Domains,
and have all my users run the connector. However...

However, I notice that the connector does not do Note, Tasks, and Calendar
without a subscription service. And I do not plan on subscribing. This
means any of my users who create these types of items do not have a backup.

I see the connector makes a OST file on the local system. But this is the
full mailbox, and of course backing this up could be a challenge based on
ones local/roaming user profile and mailbox size. And its not simple to
just attach a OST to outlook if you needed to restore this type of data.

I am not trying to protect against a user deleting 1 Note/Task, as I suspect
getting Microsoft to restore 1 email is also not feasible. But I am trying
to protect against a HDD crashing and someone loosing all their Note, Tasks,
and Calendar items.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks
Greg

Anything in the .OST file should still be on the server...the .OST just
contains a cache for offline use. If you are not subscribing to the service
for notes, etc., then there should be no connection between whatever they
might have on the Web to whatever they have in Outlook. Don't they use a
..PST file for the other stuff besides mail?

From what I am seeing, it is storing the Hotmail email in the OST...

But this gives you a full Tasks/Contacts/Cal/Journal etc. But if you are
not subscribing to MS Premium, then the info in these is not on Hotmail.com
As such its stored locally only.

And the OST file is all I can think of. But thats a silly idea.

If you don't want to subscribe, then your only option for your users is for
them to copy their online data not stored in the .OST file to a local .PST
file as a backup.
