Outlook Connector conflicts with anti-virus software

Of the plethora of problems Microsoft caused me with this forced use of the
Outlook Connector, the most troubling one left after nearly a month of
working on these issues is that it conflicts with the e-mail attachment
scanning of my Webroot Anti-virus SW. Thus, this issue is causing me to get
virus' on my computer. I am able to quarantine them once a scan is run,
however it's obviously unrealistic to require that I scan my hard drive
numerous times per day or expect that I would go out and purchase another
anti-virus SW. IS there a way to resolve this issue with the Outlook
Connector or am I stuck unless I stop using Outlook?

Do you have the real-time or on-access portion of your AV program running?
That should prevent infections even if you don't scan e-mail.
