outlook cant start: message "outlook0.ost not an offline folder fi

I just left a company I worked for 3 years.
I used outlook as email client & the company exchange server.
I added to my corporate (exchange) email of that company another email
account (POP3)
I defined this POP3 as default
Everything worked well till I decided yesterday to cancel the old corporate
email.
All my folders disappeared (Inbox, sentmail, etc.), my contacts, calendar &
tasks too.
I could not reestablish this.
I exited outlook and now, I cant start outlook any more...
I get the error message:
"the file c:\documents and settings\sagbcr.SAGB\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook\outlook0.ost is not an offline folder file"

Does anybody have an idea?
shall I reinstall Outlook?
Is there a risk that I will lose the folders (inbox etc), calendar &
contacts, which are worth a lot to me?
thanks a lot to any guru wiser than me ;-)

By removing the Exchange account you invalidated the OST. Conceivably you
might be able to get the data back with a commercial OST to PST conversion
tool. Google will find one for you.
