My Outlook 2003 has a recurring holiday:
Occurs the fourth Thursday of November effective 11/28/2002

How do I automate a "Day after Thanksgiving" holiday?

Just create a new holiday and have the recurrence set to the fourth
Friday of November.

Unfortunately, the fourth Friday of November isn't always the day after
Thanksgiving. If November 1 is a Friday, the fourth Friday is November 22,
but Thanksgiving isn't until November 28.

Oh. Well, then I guess the OP will have to hand-configure the holidays
for that particular year.

I think so. If there's a way to do what he wants, I don't know it. It would
be nice if Outlook had that capability, but as far as I know it isn't there.

As others have posted, the logic of a separate day can be tricky. You can extend the duration of
Thanksgiving to the next day, having it span two days. Hope that will help for your purposes.

I opened up the recurring event, and don't see how to extend the
duration. So I created a new Thanksgiving holiday, made it two days
long, and deleted the old one.

This isn't quite what I wanted, but is close enough.

A similar want would be to have the calendar tell remind me a day
before the meeting that is scheduled for the 1st Tuesday of each
month.

As with the day after Thanksgiving, that is dependent upon a different
calendar entry. I wonder how people set up religious holidays that
are dependent upon full moons and such.

But that's easy. Outlook *can* do that. You can set a reminder for any
calendar entry and how far ahead you want that reminder is optional. The
choices include one day.
