Hi all,

I'm not an Outlook savvy user (far from it) and hope someone here can shed
some light.
For years now I've got 2 hotmail accounts.
One of them has virtually always been an account I also had defined in
Outlook and with that one I can send/receive through Outlook.
The other day I decided it would be convenient to have the second one
defined there as well, so I did.

However, trying to use this new account in Outlook comes back with a message
that it cannot be used through Outlook, because: "....using a hotmail
account through Outlook now needs a subscription." (or words to that
effect.)

What's the deal here?
Why does one work and the other (newly defined) doesn't?

TIA

george

Hotmail doesn't work in Outlook with new hotmail acct now, unless you
subscribe to Hotmail Plus which is a paid service. Hotmail was kind enough
to allow old acct to function in Outlook.

Thasnks Dan,

extra clarification.
with 'new account' you mean:
1. a newly created hotmail account
or
2. a (already longtime existing) hotmail account defined as a new mail
account in outlook?

George, I believe New Account means newly created hotmail acct. If you
already have an existing hotmail, then that should work. The best way is to
sign on to Hotmail from IE, then click on Help at the top right. There are
many useful information there. Good luck!

If you didn't access the Hotmail account using Outlook or Outlook Express
before 24 September 2004, they consider it a new account and you will not be
able to access it through Outlook or Outlook Express unless you pay for the
access.

Personally, I'd find another email provider, other than Hotmail, such as
Yahoo! or Gmail. I use my old Hotmail account strictly as a spam trap.

I agree. I find accessing hotmail very slow in a browser. That is why I
configured my Hotmail using Outlook Express.
