When I click "Send/Receive", in addition to my email, I recently
noticed that my Outlook Address Book is also Sending and Receiving.

Sending and Receiving to whom/where? Is this a virus?

I obviously don't want my address book sent out to anyone!

Is this normal? How can I turn OFF this feature?

There is no such "feature." Post what you're seeing clearly enough that the
rest of us can tell what you mean.

Sorry, I thought my post was clear. I'll try again:

In Outlook 2003, when I click "Send/Receive" on the toolbar, the
"Outlook Send/Receive" Progress Box" opens. Under the "Tasks" tab
(under "Name" and "Progress"), it displays:
Outlook Address Book - Sending and Receiving ... Processing
Poochbeast - Sending ... Completed
Poochbeast - Receiving ... Completed

Obviously, my emails have been sent/received. What's going on with my
address book? Obviously, I don't want it being sent/received anywhere!
It hangs up in the above mode (Processing) and never completes. The
progress bar at the top of the "Outlook Send/Receive" Progress Box"
displays green bars all the way across (indicating that the task is
completed...but apparently it is not).

I hope I have stated the problem clearly this time. Thank you for your
help.

P.S. - Even if I don't click "Send/Receive", Outlook is programming to
check for email every 10 minutes. Therefore, it creates the above
state by itself every 10 minutes.

It appears you have an email account that you've named "Outlook Address
Book". CLick Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next and look.

No. My only email account is "Poochbeast." Next suggestion please...

Totally bizarre. There is no way the Outlook Address Book should show up as
an email account during a Send/Receive, nor have I ever seen such a post. I
don't like the sounds of this behavior. I would assume this has not always
been the case, right? If not, what steps lead up to this behavior? What are
the results of your latest virus scan?

Like Russ, this is a new anomaly. Were I in your shoes, with Outlook
stopped, I'd create a new mail profile (Control Panel>Mail>Show
Profiles>Add), point it at my existing PST (with the Data Files button), and
add my account in from scratch (with the E-mail Accounts button).
