Hello,
I just got a laptop and I'm using Outlook in both my desktop and my laptop.
So far I haven't been able to figure out how to export my addresses from my
desktop to my laptop. I have copied them on to a USB flash drive, but just
can't get them loaded. Thanks, Rocko

Did you read the part about copying the .pst file?

Open the .pst file from outlook using Outlook-FIle-Open-Outlook Data File.
Copy your contacts from your old .pst file to the new using drag and drop.

Excuse me, How does one import Outlook addresses on a desktop to Outlook
on a
laptop?

Exporting and importing are never the way to transfer data fromone Outlook
instance to another. Read the web site Milly named.

I copied my desktop Outlook address book to a USB Flash drive. How can I get
them from there to my laptop? I've tried some of the methods you gave but it
didn't work or I didn't do it right. ~Rocko

No you didn't. Outlook doesn't have an address book. Tell us what you
really did.

Okay, I went to user/applications/microsoft/addressbook and copied folders
named "User Address Book File" and "USER.wab~" to a USB Flash drive, then
took it to my laptop and have been trying to figure out how to get it into my
Outlook contact file there. Those folders do have my contacts in them. ~Rocko

Those files are NOTHING to do with Outlook. Outlook stores all it's contacts
within one file, usually called outlook.pst. That one file also contains all
your email, calendar, tasks and notes as well.

Uh oh...... Now I'm looking in the data file like Milly said to do and I see
files that say .pst.tmp but none that are just .pst. Are these the right
ones? ~R

No - what version of Windows?

XP and Outlook 2007.

The default location for pst files is:
C:\Documents and Settings\{Your user Name}\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
You will have to enable hidden files to see it/them.....

The WAB file is the Windows Address Book used by Outlook Express and has
nothing to do with Outlook.

Thank you, Brian and Gordon and Milly. I understand it would be the .pst file.
I have been in touch with my local tech and hopefully this will be resolved
soon.
