Background: I'm transitioning back to Outlook after using Act! for 2+
years. I love Outlook's look & feel but there's one thing bothering
me...

The problem is I have no way of keeping track of when an event is
complete. I've been getting by with deleting appointments after
they're done, but sometimes I might forget what I've done and want to
check back.

Isn't there a way to "cross out" an appointment/event similar to how
it's done with a task?

So what do you do to signify a completed appointment?

Err, not to sound like a complete tool, but, I note that the appointment
occured in the past and is thus therefore completed. If it wasn't
completed, I would probably still be in it.

An appointment might lead to tasks, which would work like any other task,
but an appointment is really time based. I mean, my doctor appointment is
completed when the appointment is over. It doesn't last into other hours
and days. It is just over.

I know what you're saying. I don't know - there have definitely been
occasions where I've forgotten to do something marked in my calendar.

I guess I'm just so used to seeing things crossed out in Act! and only
dealing with the non-complete items. It's a visual prefence thing but
I guess I'm going to have to get used to it with Outlook.

But if it is something scheduled for Monday at 1p-2p and you forgot to do
it, how can you go back and do it? I mean, I forgot I had tickets to a
concert once, forgot the concert was happening. So, like you, I'd forgotten
to do something marked in my calendar.

But so what? I can't go back in time to do it. It is in the past.

It sounds like you're using Appointments for a To-Do list, which isn't what
it is, that's what Tasks (with due dates) are for.

If it's something to DO, then it should be a task. If it's somwhere to BE
then it's an appointment or meeting.

You guys are right.. I'm used to seeing tasks w/ deadlines on a
calendar.

Some tasks I really want to "stand out"-- so I turn them into All Day
Events in order to have them right in my face via the Calendar.

I guess I should stop that?
