outlook 2k3 and mircrosoft mail

My company is current looking in to upgrading to office
2k3. the problem we are facing is that it does not apear to
be compatible with microsoft mail. which is what we
currently use to host our internal email. does anyone know
a work around to get microsoft mail to work in outlook 2k3

Or look into Exchange server...depending on the size of your office, network
setup, admin skills, & budget, it may be a better option.

Or other email servers that provide POP or IMAP services. There are
lots of products out there. Seek out someone or a firm with expertise
which can look at your current and potential future needs, and advise you.
