Outlook 2007

I would like an authoritative answer on these two questions.

What is the origin of the Junk Mail Folder? What rules are used to put
messages in there? We use GFI antispam which has it's own folders.
Mysteriously occasional messages also end up in junk folder but the volume is
very low compared to GFI. I don't think it's GFI putting them in there.

2) In years past "preview pane" use was discourages as it allowed spammers
to know message had been opened. This version has several preview type
options. Are they safe to use or not?

Thanks in advance!

I count three.
What is the origin of the Junk Mail Folder?

The Outlook developers, naturally.
What rules are used to put messages in there?

Rules are not used. Instead, the Junk E-mail filter is a bayesian filter
whose characteristics are not published, but whose recognition routines are
updated by Microsoft on a monthly basis, based in part on messages receive
on the MSN servers.

Probably not. After GFI allows the message into the Inbox, the Outlook Junk
E-mail filter then examines tham and decides they're junk. Why not simply
disable Outlook's Junk E-mail filter. Actions>Junk E-mail>Junk E-mail
Options>No Automatic Filtering. Clear any values from the Blocked Sender
list as well.

The Reading Pane has been safe for quite some time now.
