What does this cryptic message mean? I only sent it an hour ago. Have the
receipt rules changed in OL2007?

This usually means that you reqested a read receipt and the recipient
deleted the message while it was unread.

Brian,

Normally, i.e. in OL2003 the message would hve said that the recipient
deleted the message without it being read. My question still stands has MS
changed the message? From my business situation this is quite a serious
matter as it can result in a mistrust situation.

Not as far as I know, but I haven't tested the message to see. If I get a
chance, I will.

does she use a blackberry or other pda? its possible she accessed it on a
different device and that is the message it returns.

Diane,

My recipient is a senior manager in a new target company for me. I tried to
reach him by phone and was told to use email. I wanted to avoid his
embarrassment if I ask him if he deleted without reading.

Don't accuse him of doing it. Pretend you think the PC did it without his
permission. Just say, "A funny thing happened - I was told my message to
you was deleted before you had a chance to read it. If that really
happened, I'll be glad to send it again. Stupid computers!"

yeap... blame the hardware. :) There are a number of logical scenarios that
could result in accidental deletion so I wouldn't take it personally. You
could just resend and not mention the receipt - just say you hadn't gotten a
reply and are resending in case it got lost. Do pay attention to the subject
line - it could be something he thought was spam, especially if he didn't
recognize your name. For that matter - outlook mighta junk mailed it and he
never saw it.
