I have been using Outlook 2007 for the last couple of months or so without
major problems. However, it rather suddenly is refusing to send mails
(unfortunately I downloaded a couple of 2007 add-ins and Outlook and Word
simply refused to start - message = not enough memory, and I had to remove
and reload 2007).

All other mail functions work fine - receive, sync with Hotmail, update
folders and so on. But, if I compose a mail Outlook simply ignores it and
leaves it in the Outbox. I've checked the account and group settings many
times.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Nigel Barton

For the error message about not enough memory, try deselecting the Office Plug-in from Norton's options.

If that does not work, then try a new mail profile, not a new mail account.

In the last hour or so I tried Outlook Connector. It reported that I didn't
have a paid account with Hotmail. I do! Anyway, I went back to try setting up
the account again manually selecting HTTP. This time it worked. So, I'm on
the air and sending emails.
It has always seemed to me that connecting mail accounts is a can of worms -
and it still is - even in Outlook 2007. It always seems so complicated. And
then it suddenly works! And you waste so much time.

Anyway, thanks for the voluntary assistance,

Nigel Barton

Could you explain a bit more precise what you find complicating? Outlook
2007 has a new autoconfigure option. For most accounts you can just enter
your e-mail address and password and Outlook does the rest.

I think you went wrong by installing the Outlook conncetor and expecting it
to work with with your subscribtion. You might want to look at what kind of
subscribtion you have and/or contact MSN/Live support how you can transfer
your subscription to one that works with the Outlook Connector. There are
some free upgrade offers available right now which transfers your MSN
subscribtions to Live subscriptions which do support the Outlook Connector.

I was having problems with my MSN account - it kept asking me to enter
password. So I did delete my account and recreated it. It was, as stated ,
extremely easy with OUTLOOK 2007. As yet I have yet to be prompted for
password, so hopefully this has helped me.

After the original install of Off 2007 it configured mail automatically. On
the re-install it did again but then I had the sending problem. It's taken
some time to fix (and I don't really know what the problem was). I didn't
know about Outlook Connector until reading these posts. Nor do I understand
the difference between the various subscriptions - I'll look into it. Thanks,
