Outlook 2007 & time zones

Recently, I had to replace my notebook. That replacement took place just few
hours from travelling abroad. I hadn't time to install nothing.
On the destination country I configures the local time zone (GMT-3;
Brasilia), instaled a trial version of Office 2007 Professional, configured
my e-mail accounts, send and receive mails, create appointments in both local
and home country (GMT; Lisbon) time zones. Everything worked like a charm.
On arrival, at the Lisbon airport, I changed the time zone back to 'GMT;
Lisbon', and started Outlook. CPU utilization rocketed to nearly 100% and
Outlook become irresponsive. I performed a repair with SCANPST but the
problem persisted.
Them I tried to change the computer (running Windows Vista Home Premium
32-bit) time zone back to 'GMT-3; Brasilia' and the Outlook become responsive
again, and CPU utilization backed to 'normal' values. After that, I changed
time zone again to 'GMT; Lisbon' and be able to use Outlook normally. Until I
stop it and start it again.
So, every time I start Outlook, I have to change computer time zone do
'GMT-3; Brasilia', end then back to 'GMT; Lisbon'.
Any idea?

There is conversion taking place when changing time zones.
How long did you leave Outlook to try to do its thing?
How big is your pst-file?

Hi Robert.

I already let Outlook open all night long, and it didn't done whatever he is
doing (or trying to do) after that time.

The files are quite small (less than 500MB each; I am using 5 separate
files, one for each e-mail account).

What amazes me is the fact that, just by changing system time zone to any
GMT-3, and apply that change, Outlook immediately starts working normally,
and CPU load decreases to normal (less than 5%) values. After that, I change
time zone back to GMT and Outlook keep working well until I close it and open
it again. If it were a mather of conversions, I believe it should start
making them when I change the time zone back to GMT.

When I open Outlook (and it appears to be ready to become irresponsive) I
can make new messages by clicking New Mail Message button, compose the
message, and send it. And those messages do leave Outbox folder.
If I click Calendar, Notes or Folder List on the Navigation Pane, I can
switch between those views. Outlook only gets stuck if I click any mail
folder/subfolder, or Mail, Calendar and Tasks. After I change system time
zone to any GMT-3, apply that change, and change it back to GMT, Outlook
starts working normally.

I hope I don't have to change between these two time zones for the lifespan
of Outlook 2007...
