Outlook 2007 suddenly started to download 9000 e-mails

Outlook 2007 suddenly started to download 9000 e-mails that i Had deleted
over past few years. I use Vista operating system. When I tried to use the
inbox repair tool it did not work. I stopped using my internet connection.
Help!!

I am a newbie - I went online to my sympatico server and none of the e-mails
were shown there? I have POP3.

Your e-mail provider had their system crash and they used a backup to
restore it. That also meant that they restored all those old e-mails in
your mailbox. Use the webmail interface to your mailbox and delete all
those items in the Inbox folder (if using POP) or in all the subscribed
folders (if using IMAP).

Thank you - thats the problem - i went in and cleaned it up- I did not
realize copies were kept on the server.
