After I enter a new contact or edit a contact, Outlook shuts down and tells
me it's searching for the problem. I guess it's never found a solution, since
it's been doing this for a couple of months. I have the Vista OS. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Try a new mail profile.

have you tried office diagnostics? do you have any outlook gadgets on the
sidebar?

OK, I'm sorry but I've never used office diagnostics so I don't know what
they are. I also don't know if I have any outlook gadgets. I used to use ACT
(since the early 90's) but I finally got fed up with their inability to make
email work. I'm a newbie to outlook and it shows, I guess.

Thanks.

Look on the Help menu for Office Diagnostics. Double click to start and
it'll take care of the rest.

Do you have anything on the Vista sidebar that displays new mail, calendar
or tasks from outlook?
