Outlook 2007 should have the new Ribbon interface

Not only does it look out of place next to word 2007, but also the ribbon
interface is much better and simpler than menus and toolbars. Outlook 2007
should use this not just for email creation but in the primary window as well.

Yes, and that is being researched as well. Since it is such a massive
overhaul and becasue of time constraints they mainly focussed on the biggest
appliactions that will benefit most of it. For this version it was a
decision of getting it right for some applications or doing it half *ssed
for all. If research shows that other applications can benefit from it as
well you'll most likely see more of the Ribbon in the next major Office
release.

Or in this case, doing it half-arsed for Outlook, since the main window has
no ribbon but the other windows in Outlook do. You'd think a company as big
as Microsoft would have considered getting it right for all applications.

....which will be Office 2011, based on how long it's taken to put this one
together :)

My guess is that if the ribbon is deemed to be a success, then there'll be
an Outlook 2008 to fix the problem with the confusing half-and-half ribbon
style of Outlook.

On the other hand, if the ribbon proves as popular as the animated
paper-clip, expect future releases of Office to have a classic mode!
