OUTLOOK 2007 RULES EDITED WITHOUT CONSENT

I run windows vista, and use outlook 2007. And have a number of rules set up.

Under a number of these rules, outlook started to forward emails to the wrong addresses. Without me touching anything knowingly.

I realized that my address book details were all scrambled up, contact person did not match email address, or display name did not match email address, ect.

I deleted the entire address book from the HD, the NK2 file. And ran a test to see what would happen.

Instantly, I received a SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR message stating that:

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

XXXXX XXXXX () on 22/09/2009 13:50
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.

This is understandable because I have deleted the address book, but the problem is that the addressee that appears (XXXXX XXXXX) is not the intended forwarding address that I have set up in my rules.

After that, I went to my rules, and while i was revising them, the rules modified themselves right before me, changing the intended address, for the wrong recipient.

I've deleted all the rules and reset them and seems to be okay. But I would appreciate some feedback to see why this happened, or if there was a particular cause to make sure I can fix it and not have this incident happen again.

The nk2 file is not your address book, it merely contains a cached list of
addresses you have typed in the address of any sent mail
Your address book is merely a filtered view of your Contacts, which are
contained in the main data file

Check your contact records in your Contacts folder and make sure the addresses
are what you think they should be. Consider reentering the addresses.

As DL said, the NK2 file is unrelated to your "address book" (whick Outlook
doesn't even have) or your Contacts. You have something screwed up in your
Contacts folder.
