OUtlook 2007 messages get stuck in outbox and dont send

I have been having a lot of trouble sending messages from my outlook 2007 .
It is using a pop3 google host to send and receive from however messages just
seem to remain in the outbox unsent.

I have compressed my PST file to 450mb, and cleared up emails, disbaled RSS
and other VBA stuff that I dont use and I still have this problem. Apparently
its something to do with how outlook authentictes the SMTP traffic? Any ideas
please?

Have you tried enabling diagnostic logging to see that transpires between
Outlook and the server during a send/receive?
