I would like to know if there is a way for me to continue using HTML as the
Message format in Outlook and be ablesingle space after each carriage return.
I don't remember having this issue with 2003.

- I don't use Word as an editor...
- I would prefer not to Shift-Enter <br> for a single space

Thanks in advance.

Go into the Styles option under the Format Text tab on an outgoing message
(or in Word for that matter – expand the Styles box, don’t click Quick Styles
or Change Styles) and you’ll see there is one called “Normal†and one called
“No Spacingâ€. Normal has the double-spacing, No Spacing doesn’t.

Thank you. That works. I'm having issues setting it as the default now. I
guess I'll need to change the global template.

how do you "change the global template"?

I also struggled for this problem for many months, but finally stumbled on a great solution.

Instead of hitting Shift+Enter at the end of every line, it is possible to remap the Enter key (within Outlook only) to mean Shift+Enter. This does exactly the right thing.

I have written a script in AutoHotKey, a free program, and posted instructions for use at the following website:

If you find this solution useful, please consider donating to the non-profit organization listed on the page. Thanks!
