Outlook 2007 is slow

I installed Office 2007 and it is about 10 times slower than my previous 2000
Outlook. The downloading of emails is okay, but when I click on the
individual email it takes forever to see it in the preview window.

Outlook 2007 does have some performance problems for some people. No fix
available yet that I know of...

I think I have identified one reason for the Slowness of Outlook, when one
starts a new mail message... it was the Skype add-on to Outlook.
Once I removed it... the prblem disappeared.
reinstalled it... and again, the delay when creating a new mail resumed.

Yes, I've heard from several people that add-ins tend to exacerbate the
slowness issue...perhaps not all add-ins, but at least some of the more
popular ones.

Could someone please tell me how to remove the offending addons?
Not just the Skype one but all of them please?

Thanks, but it is still as slow as sin though!
Anything else you can point your fingers at?
I only use it for accessing hotmail as I cant stand the advertising OR the
interface (old and new)

Hard to say. What is slow according to you?
Are you using the MSN Outlook Connector to access your mail or the standard
HTTP protocol?

Outlook. The downloading of emails is okay, but when I click on the

I also have serious performance problems with Outlook 2007. It is at least
10x slower that Outlook XP. However, one day it came up in "safe mode" (I
didn't know it had one!), and it ran nice and fast! So: how do you get it to
always come up in "safe mode"? I've tried disabling the add-ins and it
doesn't change things. I couldn't tell if anything was missing in "safe
mode". Alas, I have not been able to force it into safe mode since then!

The slowness is really sickening. It falls WAY behind when I'm typing,
especially if it's looking for new mail, and it can even start to drop
characters when you get too far ahead -- it should have the user interaction
as one of the highest priority threads, but apparently it does not.

There are many other performance issues too -- I won't go into them here,
but it's sort of like the old days when you had cassette tapes, before floppy
disks. Or for those that remember, DECtape. You'd have thought Moore's law
would keep ahead of software bloat, but apparently not in this case. Did the
development team do any performance analysis? There are a lot of nice tools
out there...

Anyway, sorry for the rant, but this is in my face every day.

Happy trails,
Stuart

I am using the standard HTTP protocol, its too slow, I am going to go back to
office 2003, as that way outperforms this 2007 crap

Create a shorcut that uses

outlook.exe /safe

as the command. Of course, that doesn't solve the real problem, merely
avoids it.

Loved those TU58s on VAX-11/725s and the whopping 25 MB that an RC25 would
hold.

Hello all!
Okay so I tried everything I could find on the web and in the discussion
boards and nada helped. Finally I did one thing that seems to make a HUGE
difference for me. I uninstalled the SSQL server (likely installed with the
Small Business Edition w/Business Contact Manager and Voila! .. so far
everything is working fantastic and my entire system is running fast again!

The HTTP protocol has always been slow. You might want to give it a go with
the Outlook Connector.
