Outlook 2007 Indexing never completes

My Outlook 2007 indexing never seems to complete and is stuck on 2131 items.
I'm running Vista Ultimate and I'm using a POP3 account. I've rebuilt the
Vista index, I've effectively deleted the index and then rebuilt it -
nothing. I've searched the net and this forum and I'm seeing a few other
people are running into this problem. Would someone from Microsoft *please*
care to comment? So far, no one seems to be aware of a fix, other than
installing Google Desktop.

Microsoft does not monitor or participate in this group.
Have you tried repairing your data file?
 
Thanks for your answer. I've tried repairing the .pst file (it did have
"issues" - now why doesn't it get repaired automatically when you open
outlook???). I've rebuilt the index from scratch in Vista. Outlook still
doesn't seem capable of finishing the indexing.

Any other symptoms? Does it always stop indexing at the same point? How long
have you let indexing run?
