Outlook 2007 indexing issues

We are running Outlook 2007 on Windows XP workstations with Exchange
2003. We have some users who complain about tremendously poor
performance since installing Outlook 2007, and some who don't seem
bothered by it at all.

From what I have read, most of the performance problems with Outlook
2007 appear to be related to the indexing feature. I have also read
that indexing can be done on a schedule, but I have not yet found how
to make this configuration change. Anyone know how to do this?

Have you verified that the indexer indeed is your issue?
Has it finished indexing already?
How large are the mailboxes?

I have not confirmed that it is the indexing service, but from what I
have read this is the most likely cause. I have a client who had 3
users who were complaining about it since they upgraded to Outlook
2007, and I experienced the same problem after I installed Office 2007
on my personal laptop. Both organizations are using Exchange 2003 and
Outlook 2003 clients have no persistent performance problems. My data
file is about 1 GB, and the others range from 400K to about 2 GB. All
PCs have had plenty of time to finish indexing. If not indexing, what
should I check?
