Outlook 2007 has trouble with Lotus Notes email and appointments

J

Jack Vinson

Hello-

I am having two specific problems with Outlook 2007 when I receive email
from Lotus Notes (7.0.1). It's clearly a problem with the way Outlook is
reading the mail, because I can see these items correctly in a web-based
email interface or on my mobile phone. This is mail that comes in through a
POP account. I am not using an Exchange server.

1) When I receive replies to messages I have sent, their reply is blank and
my original is still there. I think this is happens specifically with RTF
messages. It doesn't appear to happen consistently, however. The suggestion
of checking the font or background color has not helped.

2) When I receive repeating-meeting invitations (usually to multiple
people), the meeting invitation is garbled enough that Outlook cannot
interpret it. I have to read through all the codes or contact the organizer
directly for more information.

Is there a fix to Outlook that corrects this problem? Or is there some
setting that I can apply that will improve how Outlook interprets these
messages?

Thanks,

Jack Vinson

As far as I can tell, Outlook is up to date. Windows Update doesn't suggest
any additional Outlook updates.

No solution found so far.

All, We are currently creating a solution to the 2nd item below for a
customer of ours. The core problem is Lotus not properly adhering to iCal
standard RFC2445. You should see this in Outlook 2007 / SP2 environments.
Microsoft has refused to put in a fix because they say they are in compliance
with the standard.

Our fix should be done in 2-3 weeks. If you are interested, let me know.

Jack.

Just came across your post.
One of my clients is having a similar issue.
You mentioned that SP2 or outlook 2007 will have the fix.

Is there any date for SP2 as yet?
