I am using Outlook 2007 and just recently my task all are duplicated;
however, when I go to delete the duplicate my original task also gets
deleted. Any suggestions?

In which view do you have your Tasks folder configured?
Switch to the Simple List view and reset it if necessary. Does it still show
duplicated?

Yes - still shows duplicate - I reset it to simple and back and still have
duplicate task

I am also annoyed by this issue. When I tried the only solution given, I
noticed that all my past tasks have been duplicated as well. Can anyone help?

I noticed that somehow a duplicate "personal folder" had been created. I
backed up my information to be safe, right-clicked the second folder, then
choose to close the folder. Immediately the problem went away.

Rob - where did you locate this duplicate "personal folder"? What a nuisance
this is!

With the "Mail" option selected in the bottom left hand corner of your
Outlook screen (options are: Mail, Calender, Contacts, Tasks), the left hand
display column should show the "Mail Folders". This is were you should see
the 'Personal Folders." Your Personal Folder holds other folders such as:
deleted items, drafts, inbox, outbox, etc. At some point I noticed that an
identical personal folder was listed. All the information was the same in
each one. I didn't know why and was cautious about deleting it. As best as
I can figure, I thought that installing the personal folder backup for
outlook had caused it. Anyhow, I selected it by right clicking, and chose to
"close" the folder. I hope this helps you because I never found anything or
anyone to help me solve this problem. Good Luck!

I get a message that warns me about deleting the extra Personal Folder.
Should I ignore it or do something before I delete that folder?

All that is located in your persnal folder can be backed up, such as any
emails. Outlook has a personal backup tool that you can download. It
automatically saves your data on a routine basis, I found it while searching
their website for solutions to this problem, however, you can save your
emails manually. Its just a precaution, once I deleted my extra folder, the
solution immediately was solved. But its always a good idea to be safe, I
would check each subfolder to see if there is anything that is unreplacable
and then save it first.

I found the solution at this adress:
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/319

you got a corruption in the To-do List, presumably during sorting or filtering your data...

anyway, you can reset the list by taping:
outlook.exe /resettodobar
in the Run window from the Start menu

no deletion, no backup
in my case problem was resolved in 5 seconds ;)
