Outlook 2007 - Default focus when clicking Inbox folder

I am using Outlook 2007 with Exchange/Windows XP

In Outlook 2000, on initial view of the Inbox (e.g. returning to Inbox after
viewing another folder) , the focus was always on the first item (last item
received in default message view).

In Outlook 2007, the focus is on the last item viewed. Is this a setting
that I can change?

There is no such setting.

Most of the complaints that have been posted about focus complain that
Outlook seems to select the first message in a folder rather than returning
selection to the most recently viewed item. Yours is the opposite of those
complaints, but the behavior you describe is, as far as I'm concerned, the
correct behavior. Message selection SHOULD return to the most recently
viewed item when you leave and then return to a folder.
