Outlook 2007 crashes when requesting a new email

I am trialing Outlook 2007 having used Outlook 2003 std. I have a number of
add-ons but they have been upgraded or deleted so there is full compatibility.
I am experiencing two major problems which result in the application
crashing. The first is when you attempt to fully open a mail message, it wont
and crashes. The second is when you attempt to start a new email, the
application crashes.
I have selected diagnostics for repair and it has found nothing. I can
receive emails but not start new ones.
All other functions seem to operate OK.
Has anyone experienced similar and could suggest a solution?
 
What is the exact error you get when it crashes?
What exactly is being logged to the Event Viewer?
