outlook 2007 calendar won't sync with itunes to my ipod.

It worked with outlook 2003. I have the latest iTunes 7.1.3 and reset my
iPod. It appears that the contacts are syncing without problem, I get a
message to close Outlook with the task manager and re-start, but this does
not work either. It appears when I'm syncing that iTunes is trying to sync
but can't connect. Any help would be great. Thanks.
